Teaching

Lauren Yoon is a passionate and dedicated piano educator with over a decade of teaching experience, working with students ranging from four years old through high school. Before beginning her graduate studies at Peabody, she taught in diverse musical communities across Portland, Los Angeles, and Baltimore. Most recently, she served as piano faculty at the Pasadena Conservatory of Music and as an adjunct professor of group piano at California School of the Arts.

Since 2012, Ms. Yoon has maintained a private piano studio, teaching students from beginner through intermediate levels while organizing studio classes and intimate recitals that foster both musical growth and confidence. During her studies at the Colburn School, she also taught group piano classes in keyboard laboratories of up to twelve students, introducing young musicians to the joy of collaborative music-making and providing accessible opportunities for extracurricular musical enrichment.

Throughout her teaching career, Ms. Yoon's mission has remained constant: to cultivate a supportive and inspiring environment where students develop a lifelong love for music through creativity, curiosity, and artistic expression. She is deeply committed to helping each student build a meaningful understanding of music while encouraging discipline, confidence, and personal growth.

For beginning students, Ms. Yoon emphasizes strong musical foundations through proper technique, healthy posture, music theory, rhythmic development, and ear training. As students advance, her instruction focuses on cultivating refined technique, expressive artistry, critical listening skills, and thoughtful musical interpretation, equipping them with the skills and confidence to become well-rounded, accomplished musicians.

Drawing upon over ten years of teaching experience, rigorous conservatory training, and performances in prestigious competitions throughout the United States, Ms. Yoon is dedicated to passing on her knowledge to the next generation of musicians. She considers it a privilege to guide students on their musical journeys and finds great fulfillment in helping them discover their potential, pursue excellence, and develop a lasting appreciation for the art of music.
