Biography

Lauren Yoon is an accomplished pianist, educator, and advocate for music education whose passion for sharing music has shaped a distinguished career as both a performer and pedagogue. She has appeared as a soloist with orchestras and in recital throughout the United States, earning recognition for her expressive artistry and musical excellence.

Ms. Yoon earned both her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance and Master of Music in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, where she studied with Benjamin Pasternack. Her previous teachers include Ory Shihor, Monica Ohuchi Bunch, Elizabeth Stern, and Andrea Johnson.

Ms. Yoon made her orchestral debut at age twelve with the Oregon Symphony, performing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 2. Since then, she has collaborated with distinguished conductors including Niel DePonte (Oregon Symphony), Huw Edwards (Olympia Symphony), and David Hattner (Portland Youth Philharmonic). She has also been featured on All Classical Portland (89.9 FM) in programs including On Deck with Young Musicians, Thursdays at Three, and international broadcasts hosted by Christa Wessel and Edmund Stone. Most recently, she returned as a guest soloist with the Olympia Symphony to perform Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 2.

A prize-winning pianist, Ms. Yoon received First Prize in the senior division of the MTNA Piano Competition and has earned top honors in numerous competitions. She was a finalist in the Van Buren Young Artist Debut!, where she received the Mary Tooze Scholarship for Pianists, won the Silver Medal at the Seattle Northwest Chopin Competition, and appeared as concerto soloist with the Central Oregon Symphony performing Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 2.

Deeply committed to music education, Ms. Yoon has over twelve years of private teaching experience, working with students ranging from young beginners to advanced high school pianists. She previously served on the piano faculty at the Pasadena Conservatory of Music, where she taught for three years and helped cultivate a thriving musical community. Through her private studio, she is dedicated to nurturing artistic excellence while fostering confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love of music in each student.

Ms. Yoon now resides in Little Rock, Arkansas, where she operates her private piano studio. Outside the studio, she enjoys the outdoors and exploring new restaurants with her husband. She also enjoys pursuing visual art through her online creative brand and YouTube channel, Blue Citrus Art.
